With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.
Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.
This is a very good little watch. It works very well, delivers everything it promises, and is pretty nice looking. It reminds me very much of a Timex Expedition in looks and function. Anyone familiar with the standard "four button" workings of a Timex will be able to move thru the functions of this watch with relative ease. I never even picked up the instruction booklet. Quite user friendly. Gives you the digital time, date, day, time zone, and also a digital "watch face" in the corner. I really like the world time zones feature. This feature is also easy to use. This watch is water proof to a depth I will never go down to, offers all the functions one would want from a watch, has a 10 year battery, and even has a durable mineral crystal! As a prime member, I bought it for $23!! Are you kidding me? It is light weight, looks respectable, has a breathable band so it is comfortable, and is $20 and a couple dollars. What more could you want? If you are looking for a designer or executive watch, obviously this is not for you. If you are looking for an everyday watch that is functional, user friendly, durable, light weight, comfortable, decent looking, with some nice extra features, water proof, and never want to replace the battery, stop looking..
I purchased this watch for my 8 year old son, it was his first real watch. A big reason for purchasing this watch was for the impressive 100M water resistance rating. Turns out the water resistance rating should be 0M. After only a few weeks of having this watch and wearing it at the beach, my son and I have found substantial amounts of moisture inside the watch, specifically on the inside of the watch face. (see attached pic) Unfortunately, we are now stuck with a soggy watch as the return window is now closed. I absolutely DO NOT recommend any one buy this watch.
I have traditionally bought Casio watches and usually got 2-3 years out of each of them. So imagine my unhappy response when my two month old watch died tonight. No display, no light, no nothing. It is still under warranty, but for the cost of mailing it back (and they recommend insurance) I can purchase another low-cost watch-- but I may not buy a Casio this time...
This review is not so much about Amazon service (most of the time it is great.) It’s about the product which was developed by Casio long time ago, but still perfectly meets requirements of a frequent traveler, crossing many different time zones … If you read the article of Marc Weber Tobias about his new 42mm Apple watch (he paid $1000 in lower Manhattan for that fragile piece of electronics), you might be surprised. Mark discovered that the watch actually does not meet his frequent voyager requirements. You need to charge Apple watch every day (Casio’s battery works 10 years, and you don’t need to carry a charging cable), you have to remove it when you go swimming (Casio is water resistant), it’s time zone is tied to an iPhone (Casio solution is highly rational), etc. Not only Apple watch costs 50 times more, it requires also some learning curve… Yes, it makes a statement about the lifestyle of its wearer, but if you are a practical man - you want more a robust time management and less a melting Dali clock.
I love this watch! Somehow it looks way better than in the photos - a nice low profile, sleek look. The band is great - durable, comfortable, and doesn't absorb water. Settings are easy to adjust, and the gold backlight is a nice touch. The world map and "analog" clock are admittedly not super useful, but I like how it looks.
I chose this watch based on a few features including the strap, light, colors, and although not a feature, the great price! It's light enough to wear all day and night, and heavy enough to know it's on your wrist. I read a few reviews before ordering, and read one stating that this watch was hard to set, and that the instructions are very difficult to understand, I can't tell you anything about the instructions seeing as how i set this watch as soon as i opened the box with no need for instruction. I think if you have just a little bit of experience with electronics, and i small amount of patience, you should be able to set up this watch easily.
This is a reasonably good utility watch. I've had it a week and already have a good sized scratch in the face crystal. My Timex Expedition has lasted 12 years and gone through four bands in a refinery and not scratched this bad. I like the features on this one, so I'll give it a run for the money and see how long it serves me. If you do HVAC, don't even think about this one. That's how it got scratched.
There's not much about this watch not to like. The black nylon strap band is comfortable, the display is easy-to-read, the backlight is the older bulb-style in amber (not gray!) which looks very nice, side buttons are large (which on this casing is a good thing), it's relatively light in weight, it has the just-right size where it's not too large nor too small, and overall it's just great.
Great Item, does what it should.
Feels really good and comfortable on your wrist...
Alcune volte il silenzio vale piu' delle parole
È proprio quello che cercavo... Bello confortevole la spedizione è stata velocissima e puntuale...
