These just came in yesterday and I couldn't believe how comfortable they are! I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis in my right foot to the point walking hurt. Between compression socks and these sneakers, I've been able to walk with minimal pain. I would definitely recommend these. |
I cant believe a NEW BALANCE shoe has such a poor workmanship...fabric tearing apart....after 2 uses? I do not think these shoes are a true NEW BALANCE brand. |
Rating shoes is kind of subjective sometimes because everyone has such different feet and needs. With that said, these shoes hurt my feet! :( I have narrow heels but wide feet (lucky me), and while the wide size was nice and gave my feet the space it needed, the heel would slip off slightly with every step. I am usually a 6.5/7. I bought both those sizes in W, and the 7 was a little too large. 6.5 felt ok, but once I started walking I just didn't like how the heel kept coming up. Also, the shoes made my feet dip inwards, if that makes sense. It was extremely uncomfortable and my feet hurt just walking around the house. I do appreciate the grip of the shoes. As a trail running shoe, I could see it doing nicely on trails. It had a nice thick sole but was also flexible. Too bad it didn't work out for me. |
After my foot surgery 6 yrs ago, my foot surgeon/doctor had told me since my heels are narrow than the average heel and forefoot is wide with a collapsed arch/flat feet, the best shoe to address that is NB walking shoe or cross trainers with arch support. |
Do you know how hard it is to shop for sneakers online? The pandemic has shown me this. I've literally bought and returned 6 pairs of sneakers- I'm grateful for a generous Amazon return program! So on pair 7 I finally have found a shoe that works and I know enough now about shoes I don't like to write a decent review for these. 1) material and workmanship is a big deal. These are thick, layered, and well sewn. So thick that they will probably take some breaking in but this is in contrast to the soft out-of-the-box flimsy glued-up shoes that are being made by everyone from Merrell to Sketchers to Ryka. But with the structure of the shoe, I feel like my previous broken ankle will be protected. 2) I have found that the style of sneaker I like is referred to as a "trail runner" - deep tread and a thick sole. I want to be able to walk all around the city and go off reading on a muddy trail when I want to. These fit that requirement perfectly. 3) Shoe companies aren't doing a super job of standardizing sizes and they seem to be creating narrower shoes. So I order wide in athletic shoes knowing that I can tighten the laces if I need to. These are "wide" but I'd call them a true B width fit. Also I wear 8 1/2, that's what I ordered, and that's what I got. |
Received these, tried them on, and was disappointed that the foot bed is hard as a rock. I can't imagine actually running in, or trekking in these because of that. Okay, so I ordered a wide because my feet are wide, and I also ordered a 1/2 size bigger hoping I could fit a foam insert in them, and be able to wear socks...which if I could have might help the rock hard foot bed. But they are actually snug where they shouldn't be for a wide. So, I don't think I'll be able to wear them. I ordered another pair from another manufacturer to see how they feel and plan to return the worst of the two. No matter who makes them anymore, shoes are terribly made. I cannot believe how hard it is to find well made, quality shoes that feel good, on your foot, or at least don't make you want to rip them off because your feet are screaming. I think I'll take a shoe making class. |
I have been trying multiple models of New Balance shoes since they discontinued my favorite, the tan suede Trail Walker. Absolutely none so far have actually been anywhere near wide enough. This model would probably be okay if you have only very slightly wider than average feet, but for a true wide, it was stiff and very painful. I ordered size 10, and it was long enough. The materials and construction were of fine quality, as is typical of New Balance, just not a true wide. |
I ordered a half size larger than my regular size, based on reviews that said these shoes run small, as well as my recent experience with a different brand of athletic shoes running small. My experience is that these are true to size. The ones I received are exactly a half size too big. I wish I’d ordered my regular size. They are nicely cushioned shoes, and the insoles are removable. The tread is nice for trail running, too. I’d like them a lot if they weren’t too big (my fault for believing the reviews rather than the size guidelines). |
Perfect fit.. as described. |
