Our iconic hiking boot for women brings an updated look to all-terrain adventures. We carried over the fit, durability, and performance of our award-winning Targhee waterproof boot and took its rugged looks to a new dimension. Weighing 1 lb. / 12.4 oz. as a pair, made with durable, waterproof leather and featuring a moisture-wicking lining, the Targhee 3 women’s waterproof hiking boot is built off KEEN's traditional wider footwear form. KEEN products are consciously created using a natural, pesticide-free probiotic-based technology called Eco Anti-Odor for breaking down odor in sweat, PFC-free water repellent (in applicable styles) and leather sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG)-certified tanneries. KEEN makes shoes to make a difference. From the products it makes, to the actions it takes, KEEN inspires people to live and work monumental every day. As a brand born for life outside, KEEN has a responsibility to protect and conserve the places where all people live, play and work.
Bought these boots for working on the farm/ranch and they didn’t even last 2 months before the leather began cracking and the rubber on toe box started coming unglued. I’ve been trying to find a reliable work boot that can withstand all day in the pastures and be slip resistant over various terrain. These boots were semi waterproof, however in the early morning with dew on my feet become soaked while walking the pastures. They are a comfortable boot but did not hold up to everyday wear on the farm/ranch. Very disappointed with the quality because like I mentioned they are comfortable for all day wear.
My wife was able to wear this hiking right out of the box, with no break-in necessary. The boots are solidly waterproof-we hiked right after a rain to a waterfall, and there were lots of small streams to cross. They also have extra protection against mud. They gave her feet more protection on rocks than her lighterweight hiking boots. They offered very good traction in slippery areas. She's very, very happy with the look and feel of these boots. We highly recommend them!
I typically wear a double sock in my hiking boots (a padded wool hiking, and a light cotton to wick moisture). These boots out of the box were too snug overall to accommodate my double sock. A single thick hiking sock was adequate for a 2 mile break-in hike. The boots performed well, I didn't have any trouble with rubbing. If you are a true size 10 I would order up. I am a 9.5 or 10 depending on the shoe and these are JUST long enough. Again, enough room for good socks and not touching but I've had roomier boots before. I hiked on rocky terrain, marsh land, and forest (roots, leaves, compressed dirt). My feet were great at the end, no sore heels or arches, no blisters.
Perfect! Ordered one size larger and the fit was amazing! Ordered several different types/sizes thanks to prime wardrobe, and not being able to try on in stores thanks to Covid precautions. Big sturdy toe box and sole. Took them hiking in the pouring rain on Red River Gorge cliffs, steep declines and way to steep of climbs! When I mean pouring, I mean Southeastern KY summer storm pouring!! Warning! When they say waterproof they mean it! As long as you’re not standing under a full blow waterfall of the deep gorge! But who wants to be waterproof when experiencing that once in a lifetime moment! Then la ferretta rock climbing the next day. Dried out well and absolutely clung to the rock face! I had complete confidence in these boots! I was not disappointed!!! Mid ankle was soft but sturdy! So happy with this purchase!!
I have been wearing Keen hiking sandals for years, but when we moved to a colder climate, I needed boots. These boots fit exactly as expected. I usually wear a 7.5, but went up half a size to accommodate wool socks, and the fit is perfect. The sole is extremely comfortable, but the boot itself is somewhat rigid. It seems like it will take a good amount of time to "break in". Overall, I am very excited to wear these boots.
I love these hiking boots! They are comfortable from the start and nice-looking. I have a wide foot, and the size 10 is perfect for me. I have only worn them indoors, but I can tell that they will be great for outdoor hikes. I am only disappointed in the fact that I read an article that rated these boots as the #1 hiking boot for women with plantar fasciitis. I have suffered from chronic plantar fasciitis for over a year now, and these boots don't provide much arch support, IMO. The inserts are flimsy. But...normally, I have to use Powerstep shoe inserts for my footwear, and with those inserts in these boots, I'm perfectly fine. It's just that I had expected more from the factory inserts, but hey, I'm very pleased with these boots overall. I can't speak to how waterproof they are, as I haven't worn them outdoors or in rain yet.
This is a second pair of keens I have purchased because I found the name to be reliable. These hikers were comfortable right out of the box. I am use to buying shoes online, but as always, read the manufactures suggestions to size yourself up or down for the best fit.
I float between a 6.5, 6.5W, and 7 in hiking shoes, and have a pair of old Keen work boots in a 6.5. I ordered these in the 6.5, and I think they fit true to size. I will be returning them though, so I can't attest to their waterproofing.
I don't write many reviews but felt these so deserved one. A bit long winded sorry but worth a read....I've been a Salomon's fan all my adult life; trail, running, hiking boots until recently (past the dreaded 50) I started getting acute pain around my little toes. So much so that I could hardly walk. I tried all sorts until I read it could be Morton's Neuroma, pinching of the nerve running between the small toes often caused by too tight toe box! I needed to replace my old Salomon hiking boots anyway and set to doing so much research it made my head spin! I'd read about KEEN Targhee's being roomier in the toe box, so I took a risk and bought them. I'm so glad I did! I literally now have no more pain at all. They lost only one star on comfort and thickness as I'd say for a day hike, the soles are less forgiving than my old Salomons but I've bought new socks to compensate. They are definitely waterproof (see pics this was from long wet grass) my feet are completely dry and by the end of the walk the outer had dried quickly. They don't look wide and clumpy on (like some boots with a wider toe box) they feel light and secure around my feet. The laces are that kind of slippery material which I'm not a fan of but that said they haven't come undone yet and I tuck them in for security. Easy to get on and off, no having to undo the entire lacing system. And lastly I am around a size 5.5, bought a 6 and they fit perfectly with a pair of medium weight hiking socks. Love this colour combo too! Hope this review helps :)
I did quite a bit of homework before I bought these boots. I had tried them on in a shop before ordering them. I normally take a 7 but the 6.5 was a better fit. The boots were really comfortable straight away. I would say they suit a wider foot. I think the boots have softened up and lost their shape quite quickly. They have aged badly now looking like they are 2 years old. 5 months down the line they have split down the inside seams near the toe end and this is after I have used dubbing on them to keep the leather soft as I Know this can happen if they are not cleaned and protected. So all in all, I thought I’d try a different brand after two lots of salamon but not keen on Keen. Old looking boots very quickly.
There's nothing worse than having to break in new boots but after geocaching for 11 miles I can report all is good. Easiest boots to break in. Loving the boxier toe especially once the feet have warmed up. Size wise usually wear 6, bought size 6, fits like a 6.
The best walking boots I have ever had! I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis for a while now, but with these boots I'm able to walk without pain. They are soooo comfortable and great for my wide feet. Fantastic that they do half sizes too- I'm a 41 (7.5) and the size was as expected from the reviews I'd read.
Very comfortable from the moment I wore them, however they are NOT waterproof. Within minutes of walking through wet grass my socks were sodden. I fail to see how boots that have a waterproof label on the side can be so completely unsuitable for the purpose for which they are designed. This is the 3rd pair of Keen boots I have bought and each pair has been less and less waterproof
