Since 1946, Minnetonka has been a staple of American style. As post-war Americans took to the highways exploring the country's natural beauty, they stumbled upon resorts and souvenir shops carrying traditional handmade goods. And in the process, rediscovered America’s original footwear in Minnetonka moccasins.

Today, our products can be seen all around the world—from the Boundary Waters of Minnesota to the streets of New York, London, and Tokyo. No matter the footprint, all are made with the same uncompromising craftsmanship using only the finest quality materials. Minnetonka continues to define American culture with classic design that is forever connected to our natural, free-spirited heritage.

I will edit my review if there are any changes, as I just received these today.. they are very comfortable, light weight, and appear to be well made. I did read some other reviews that mentioned the seems coming undone, if that happens then I will redo them myself with fishing string, as that is very durable for sewing. I’ve taken multiple photos to show the different angles and the flexibility of the Mocs. They are extremely flexible and I think they would be perfect for grounding/earthing, as they are completely cow hide, except for the inside bottom, which can be removed if you needed to. I highly recommend that you read all of the description and maintenance, and use the products that are mentioned to keep them protected from the elements. These are fine for wearing indoors and outdoors, as long as you seal them with the correct products they mention. I wear a size 7 1/2 in regular shoes, but after reading the other reviews I decided to get a size 7 in these, as they are looser than a regular shoe, and they do stretch over time. So you want them to fit like a glove; very snug at first until you break them in. I will be returning these for a size 6, I believe. had I known they were going to be as loose as they are, that is probably what I should have purchased to begin with. As a Native American myself, who has “the walk” (almost a bounce to my walk, somewhat on my toes), I feel that is very important to have the correct size, since the area around the opening is much looser than they should be. Definitely measure both feet, and purchase the length of your smaller foot. Normally with regular shoes, you would get the size of the bigger foot; but with the way these are made, that is definitely not the case. You may feel some slight rubbing on your toes at first, but as stated, they will loosen up as you break them in; so wear them indoors and outdoors at first, to get a lot of use out off them and they will break in faster. These are very light weight, which I love because it’s a lot like being barefoot. If this review was helpful, please click the helpful button :)

I bought these to help with grounding/earthing.... some folks said to remove the foam insole in order to achieve the grounding effect. Unfortunately, this was nearly impossible; I ended up almost destroying these nice moccasins trying to get those glued-in foot beds out. They are glued in so well, that when I ripped them out, lots of little glued-on pieces remained and were impossible to get off..... I had to use a sharp knife, and almost cut off one of my fingers in the process. I'm also very bummed, because they were SO comfy before I removed the insoles, but I know I have to have them out for the grounding to work. Bummer. I wish they made them with no insoles, because it took an hour and a lot of swearing to get them out. There are still little bits glued in the mocs...... I guess they will wear out over time.......... sigh

I have wanted a pair of moccasins since I was a young girl in the late sixties and early seventies. At long last I finally have a pair and I absolutely love them! I could have gotten them cheaper from another company but I am a firm believer in the Minnetonka brand and I wouldn't have anything else. Check their website for instructions on how to 'set' your shoes before you start wearing them. Unfortunately, you can't just take them out of the box and start wearing them or you will ruin them quickly. You will need to wear them around the yard first for a few weeks, in dry grass before you start walking on concrete or gravel. There's a little more to the preparation process than that, but please, do yourself a favor. If you're going to purchase the good stuff, which in my opinion is Minnetonka, then take the time to go to their website and print out the instructions for how to "break in" your moccasins before you start wearing them out in public. Be sure to read about getting them wet, which is not a good thing. They also have an excellent tip on how to keep the shoe strings tied permanently so that you don't have to keep tying them over and over. So if you want the true moccasin experience, buy Minnetonka brand and follow the instructions on their website to a "T" and you will get years and years of enjoyment and wear from that single pair of moccasins. Oh...and buy them a half size smaller than your 'normal' size. They will stretch quickly enough & before you know it, you'll be walking around in floppy, poorly fitting moc's if you buy your regular size. I wear gel inserts in mine due to knee and back problems. But if I'm just going to be walking for a short period of time, I skip the inserts & go for the pure 'barefoot feeling' of a great pair of mocassins.
