As a professional ballroom dancer we steer away from character shoes. But I needed a character shoes for a specific routine I am choreographing. I was pleasantly surprised that these did not feel like concrete blocks! The half shank lets me point. The suede bottom is perfect for dancing on a hardwood floor (whereas a hard leather bottom for a traditional character shoe would be better for a marley floor).

The only thing I am not happy about is that it is suggested to go up a half size. So I did and they are definitely too big now. I have to return them.

I would sat these are good dance shoes if you do not want your toes stubbed by men's shoes when dancing couple dancing or social dancing. However, they run small but too much so. Maybe about half a size. My shoes run 6. if wide and foot size to 7 for street sz and medium. I bought the 7 medium as my shoe sz is 7 med for street shoes and it fits like a 6.5 pair street shoes. I wore it at the dance. Needless to say my toe nails are hurting and since I can't return them now, I will have to stretch them. I think if you wear a street sz 7. Better to go half a sz up, if you have slightly broad feet. No need to go up if you have on the slightly narrower side if your street sz is 7. The shoes are plenty broad but shorter on the length. (like i said length is of 6.5 when I ordered 7). We will see about the longevity of it. I wanted a closed toe shoes with suede bottoms for salsa for protection as I have the open toed ones.

First off, I have purchased Bloch products in the past and not had issues. These shoes, however, are NOT GOOD. They look pretty, but the t-straps are a joke. They are barely wider than dental floss and I should have believed it when other people said the straps broke after barely any use.

That being said, the final nail in the coffin was the instability of the shoe overall. My 17 year old daughter has been in MT since childhood, is an accomplished dancer, and has no problems wearing 3" character shoes. But the minute she stood up in the Split Flex character shoe, she felt like she was going to fall or turn an ankle. We immediately returned these shoes, although I think it would be better if Bloch recalled them before someone gets seriously injured. I tried so save a little money by buying these shoes, but no amount of savings is worth the possibility of my daughter rolling an ankle.

So I really love them, they are very comfortable for my tango lessons.

I'm usually a 9 so according to some reviews, I decided to go up a size and bought size 10. I think I should have gone with a 9 and then used a shoe stretcher. I prefer my dance shoes to start out a little snug because the leather tends to stretch and mold over time. The 10's aren't quite tight enough to mold to my feet.

The flex sole is a lovely idea and works with many styles of flat dance shoes. The flex sole in these provides for a terrifying dance experience. There is no stability. The heel is narrow and without a supportive base for the heel, rolling your ankle is a very likely scenario. They are poorly made as well. I wore them for two weeks in rehearsal and the seams were opening up. There were other girls in the show who had these and liked them, which is why I purchased them in the first place, but I don't understand the attraction.

After wearing these shoes to one rehearsal, I found I really should have gone up a whole size. While I had plenty of room in the width, my toes were just too close to the ends and hurt after wearing for a short time. So...I exchanged them (thanks to Amazon's awesome return policy!) for a 9 1/2. They should arrive Tuesday and I'm eager to see if they work. I really want them to, because they are so pretty! To be continued... :)

So far so good! I wear an 8.5 in most shoes and I sized up to a 9. I’m wearing them around my house to break them in. I am not a professional dancer but I perform in musical theater. These are great for simple character shoes and moderate dancing. The heel is not extremely stable, so if you’re a professional dancer with lots of moves, these may not be the shoe for you. Only giving 4 stars because I was hoping the leather would be more supple. They could loosen up after wearing. Nice heel height, and they look nice on the foot. The color is a great neutral tan. Soft footbed that molds to the foot. My first pair of Bloch heels and the split sole is new to me as well. Can’t wait to give them a run on the stage soon!

It's a good character shoe if you don't rely on full-foot support. I'm in a dance intense show right now and as long as I keep my weight over the balls of my feet the shoes are great. I have experienced the lack of ankle support, but I over come that by keeping my weight forward as I mentioned before. The color is nice, the look it nice, and I really enjoy the flexibility of the split shank. I have a wider foot and these fit just great in that regard. The heel plug on one shoe did fall out after just a couple days use, but a little super glue fixed that. I've been dancing in them at least 5 hours daily for the past 6 days and they are pretty comfortable except for the typical pain one usually gets with a heeled shoe.

I'm always really nervous about ordering shoes online due to my feet being either too big for a 5.5 and too small for a 6. I ordered a 5.5 thinking if it doesn't fit, I'd just return for a different size. They fit perfectly! They are snug, but not too snug, like how I think performing shoes should be.
These shoes are very comfortable to walk around and move in, which is good for me since I will be using them I'm college for theatre. I'm not big on heels, but these do not hurt my feet or ankles like most heels do!
Note: I have only walked and moved around in these in the house. If my thought on them change after performing/dancing in them. I will update my review.

I purchased a number of these shoes for a stage production and had to send them back because the sizes wouldn't fit any of my dancers, even when we went up two sizes they still wouldn't fit. I won't be buying these again.

CONSTRUCTION: Beautifully crafted shoes. As a drag performer I was looking for dance shoes that would provide support and withstand the weight of a man on OCCASIONAL use (i.e., I don't intend to dance in heels 3+ hours/day, 5 days a week). I wore these around the house to break them in, and I am confident they will more than do the job!

FIT/SIZING: True to size. My feet are 10 1/2" long and are medium in width. Naturally I would take to a women's size 11 (although I could fit in 10s, as well, if I am sacrificing comfort for style and availability). For online purchases I highly recommend measuring your feet in inches/CMs and getting the next size UP that is appropriate for your bigger foot's measurement. This specific style FITS LIKE A GLOVE which is exactly what I want. (I do not like the feeling of "extra wiggle room" in my shoes when I'm doing high kicks and splits.)

STYLE: I thought I wasn't going to like the T-strap, BUT I ended up LOVING it because it provides that extra security that I want. The split sole also allows me to comfortably do my toe points. It does not have any decorative top-stitching or cut-outs which makes it versatile for a wide range of stage use (e.g., ballroom, Broadway, show choir).

PACKAGING: I appreciate that the shoes come with plastic forms, so they maintain their shape with storage and travel. They also come with a travel bag!

This is a great shoe. However, I intentionally ordered a half size up and am thinking i should have gone up a full size. I wanted the 1/2 size bigger to accommodate any over heating in the toe area.

Was not comfortable. I New if I went up to next size that I would still be not happy with them

I wear a 9w street shoe, purchased a 10.5 dance shoe. Fits very well. Possibly could have done a 10, but happy with the fit.

Shoes have held up after 7 weeks of non stop dancing. Love them.

Love the style. Good quality. Ordered half size larger than shoe size, still fits small. Returned. Great Customer Service at Amazon though. Much appreciated. Will order larger size when they get more in stock.

Très bonne qualité de soulier en cuir de danse sociale acheté avec la mesure de mon pieds qui était suggéré sur le site. Je le recommande!

Nice shoes but smaller then expected

Really happy with the shoes! Would definitely buy again.

I purchased these half a size bigger than what I usually wear. So a 9 1.5...I do not regret this purchase at all...They are comfortable , snug the foot, and the suede piece underneath is very thick...Great buy!

    Short tip. Not very comfortable.

Feel great. I bought half a size larger than my regular shoe size and they seem to fit nicely. Super comfortable shoe, I love the flexibility they give.

Beautiful pair of shoes! Looks elegant on and super comfortable! Fit small so choose a half a size bigger for your right fit. Love them!
