I'm going to give these a 5 with a size caveat - they run small, even for Pearl Izumi. I wear a 8-8.5 in Brooks, Saucony and New Balance running shoes and a standard 40 in biking shoes. The 40 was too small but the 41 was perfect!

So far I've logged about 40 miles on them, about 10 miles per ride. They are the most comfortable cycle shoes I've had. No hot spots, good traction on the bottom when I want to un-clip and just use the platform side of the pedal. I have a wide forefoot and these are one of the few cycle shoes that fit that were not lace up. I use them with both a road and mountain bike.

They lack cuteness factor but I have yet to find a solid cycle shoe that makes me want to buy them for the looks.

I've been buying the X-Alp line for years now because they have been consistently solid in construction, but comfortable for walking and "pass" as a street shoe. This pair seems to run a little small, width-wise, but not pinching - I get the sense that they'll break in nicely. They're long enough that ordering up a size would have been way too long in the toes.

They don't have much arch support. I have very flat feet, so that works for me. If you do, you might find that pulling the factor insole and adding your own would be more comfortable in the long run.

Great value! Shoes fit perfectly with room for a thinner sock. I wear an 8B and ordered size 8. I like how the closure can easily be "ratcheted" to fine tune tightness of the shoes by simple little pushes on the buckle to loosen notch by notch. Hold the same "buckle" down and it quickly releases the shoe closure. The soles are stiff for good pedal control and the toe part of the sole is contoured to enable walking.

These are great, well made shoes, and very comfortable once I got the right size. Usually wear a 40/41 but they were short and hit my toes. Returned, took a chance, and ordered a 42 (the biggest I've ever ordered in a shoe) and they fit great. Otherwise these are great! Very comfortable to walk in with the cleats recessed.

These shoes are great! I bought a new bike to commute to my new job and decided I wanted to try out clipless pedals, so I got myself these shoes, and they really are perfect.

First important note: THE CLEATS DO NOT COME WITH THE SHOES. The cleats come with the pedals. This shouldn't be a problem if you are buying these for cycling, as you're going to be buying the pedals to match, but if you want them for spinning or something, make sure you also buy a set of cleats. Just search for Shimano SPD Cleats and you'll get what you need.

That said, installing the cleats was nice and easy, as was adjusting them. It just takes a 4mm alan key and they screw right in. Make sure you tighten the screws extra tight, as you don't want them slipping while you pedal, or coming loose while you walk (that happened to me).

Now onto comfort, the ratchet makes it super easy to get a comfortable fit, and I find my foot fits securely while pedaling without moving up and down inside the shoe. The best thing about them, though, is how comfortable they are for walking. I usually ride my bike into the city, but then I like to walk around exploring, so it was important to me to have something that wouldn't make my feet hurt after walking for 15 minutes. These fit the bill perfectly! I can walk in these for hours without pain. Obviously they aren't as comfortable as regular sneakers, but they're as good as it gets for cycling shoes.

I wear a men's US size 7, and bought an EU size 40, and they fit me perfectly. Unfortunately that may not be too helpful for the women who are most likely reading this review. The great thing about EU sizes is that 40 is 40, whether you're a man or a woman.

I wear a size 8.5, normal width. I ordered a 40EU/8.4US and it was still too small. Returning for the 41EU. These run waaaay small.

Runs way small. I would order 2 sizes bigger. Quality looks to be very good. I have been buying Pearl Izumi products for a long time. They make stuff that lasts.

Nice shoe, but far too small. Wish they made this in a TRUE women's 43 :(
