Meaning and Symbolism
Blue Topaz is the December birthstone. There are many emotional benefits attributed to the aqua-turquoise color stone, from calming tempers to enhancing confidence and understanding of others. Giving this gemstone as a gift is a sign of eternal love, harmony and fidelity. Blue topaz is thought to improve communication skills in both listening and sharing.
Origin and History
The name topaz is derived from the ancient Sanskrit “tapas” meaning fire, heat and passion. However, throughout history the stone had been thought to have cooling properties. Blue topaz is a silicate, one of the hardest materials known to man. There are three varieties of blue topaz: sky blue, London blue, and Swiss blue. The color variations are created by heat treating white or pale blue topaz.
Fun Facts about Blue Topaz
Blue topaz was named the official state gem of Texas in 1969 after a deposit of the stone was found in the state. The gemstone has been found in large quantities in Russia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Brazil, and Mexico as well. Blue topaz is thought to bring leadership ability to anyone who wears it, giving them increased insight and communication abilities.

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful. May sound crazy but so pretty that I haven't worn yet. Am waiting for very special occasion !. Reminds me of a very special collectors item that sort of takes breath away but don't touch. After I've had my fill of looking at it I'll definitely be wearing it.
As luck would have it, today I was wearing a multi-blue colored shirt when this gorgeous set of blue Topaz earrings arrived. I immediately put them on and left for a ladies luncheon. The ladies were impressed, and I received compliments on the design and the size. The sky blue color of these oval-cut blue topaz gems is a pretty shade...not too light, not too dark. All skies should look this good! My approximate measurements using a wood ruler are, as follows: total length of each earring is 1 1/4" from the top of the lever-back (or lobster-claw) clasp (my favorite) to the bottom of the pendant. (Actually, it hangs down a bit and dangles very well) The pendant is: 1/2" wide, 10/16" tall, 1/4" depth. The topaz stone is: 5/16" wide, 6/16" tall, 2/16" depth. The whole earring framework is 18K gold rhodium plated over sterling silver. The earrings also have a tiny diamond at the top of the oval (silver) design around the topaz. The topaz itself is held firmly by gold prongs. The rest of the oval design is highly polished bits of silver metal that look like diamonds, and produce a nice glitter. All in all these earrings are substantial, not heavy, and are quite lovely. (Total stones - 4 = 2 topaz, 2 diamond...see full product description)
This is a very pretty ring with a large curated blue topaz (about 1/2" long. Blue topaz is very rare in nature. This curated one has a lovely sky blue color that appears dark sky blue with a hint of turquoise in certain lighting. I agree with the previous reviewer that it looks a bit like an aquamarine. To me, it would seem more like "fine jewelry" if it were smaller in a simpler setting, but if you don't mind wearing large rings, it's very nice.
These Blue Topaz earrings from the Amazon Curated Collect of jewelry are some of the most beautiful earrings I have ever owned. The oval blue topaz stones are a lovely shade of blue and they are quite large. They are surrounded by rhodium plated sterling silver, cut to look like small diamonds (this is the two-tone metal in the earrings). And there is one small, genuine, cut diamond set just above the large blue topaz. The effect is dramatic and classy. The blue topaz stones are set in gorgeous 18k yellow gold-plated sterling silver, and the safe and secure lever backs of the earrings are also composed of 18k yellow gold-plated sterling silver. That said, everything about these earrings screams quality and beauty. They are absolutely stunning.
This ring is gorgeous! The stone is a beautiful, fluid, aquamarine color, with sharp facets that sparkly like crazy. Below the main stone is a surround of tiny clear stones that set the main one off. The setting allows a lot of light to come in under the stone to set off the lower facets. It's large- you'd never get gloves on over it- but small enough it sits nicely on the finger and doesn't hang over on the next finger like some gigantic ones do.
There's a lot to like about these beautiful earrings. First, they are comfortable with a lobster claw clip (nice!) and dangle nicely, with the sky blue topaz, surrounded by tiny crystals that add visual interest and make the settings look more expensive than they are. The 18k gold plating over sterling silver easily passes for solid gold yet significantly cuts the cost.
I am amazed at how gorgeous these earrings are. They sparkle and shine and as one person said, you have to see them in person. The picture on Amazon does NOT do them justice.
These earrings are simply beautiful, sparkly and light weight.
